In end 1962, The 736cc Interceptor, marketed as 750cc, hit British dealerships. It was Britain’s largest capacity parallel twin, pipping Norton’s Atlas to the title by just a couple of months. The Interceptor’s engine was manufactured in one of the company’s secondary facilities at Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, though final assembly took place in Royal Enfield’s main Redditch factory.
